Absolute Trust by Piper J Drake

Absolute Trust by Piper J Drake

I just don’t think I’m really a romance novel person. I like romance and I like novels so you would assume I would like them combined.

I am not a massive fan of the “look at my rippling abs and inability to emotionally connect… except with you, magical sweet innocent girl made of giggles and wit” guy. And that seems to be the guy Drake is into. Which is fine.

I also wasn’t that into the suspense? Most of it was sort of unclear to me what exactly was happening, which didn’t happen to me in the last two books of hers I read. But I was pretty confused more often than I think the author would have liked. And there were a few sentences that I found so clunky I had to think about how clunky they were, which is not what you want. Which I also didn’t find in Drake’s other works. And the word nipple was used so much I wish I had counted.

But I did think the romance was cute most of the time. I liked the dog, probably more than the other two dogs! So that’s cool. And I was fine with the cat. I mostly wanted more clarity with what exactly was going on. And I liked the food discussions.

Another good thing was that I read it pretty quickly! So pacing was on point.

I do think I am going to try another book by Piper J Drake, mostly because I like her in interviews. And I have liked this series.

I gave this book 3 stars on Goodreads and read it on February 12th, 2018. It is July so clearly, I am behind on book review posting.
