Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu

Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu

I loved every last second of this book. Except for the romance. The romance didn’t work for me. I liked both characters involved in the romance I just didn’t see why they liked each other.

But literally, every other thing in this book was amazing. I really really really want a second Batman book written by Marie Lu. That would be amazing
Lu writes amazing action sequences, the plot unfolds so masterfully, and her characters are so wonderfully done. Character motivation was on point.
I loved the friendships. Bruce, Diana, and Harvey were awesome together. She did a trio friendship so well. Also, I always appreciate a platonic boy-girl friendship.

I loved the way Marie Lu used Batman as a way to talk about so much relevant political stuff, continuing the long line of comic books commenting on society. Lu talks about privatized prisons, wealth inequality, racism (specifically in relation to prison), sexism, and abuse. It is all so wonderfully a part of the plot. And it doesn’t feel like eating your veggies. Marie Lu gives you an amazing action-packed mystery adventure novel and in the end, you realize there were lessons. Or you don’t and you just got a great book.

I gave this book 4 stars on Goodreads and finished reading it on October 19th, 2018.
