Listen to Your Heart by Kasie West

Listen to Your Heart by Kasie West

I have now read 8 Kasie West books. I am very happy about this. And this is the 4th that hasn’t made me cry. Just a fun fact.
I liked this book so much! It is cute and fun and has great friendships. Which is everything one looks for in a YA contemporary. West delivers the adorable. That magazine was the cutest way to ask a person out I have ever seen.
It was nice that half of the core character group were people of color. But one part of the novel where it should have been a great place to slip in white privilege or even something about how POC have to deal with authority in a different way than white people do and the author did nothing with that. So that missed opportunity was a bummer. She did make them full characters who I loved, so that was wonderful.
I love going to Kasie West world where communication is a good thing and everyone can find their support systems. It is so lovely.

I gave this book 5 stars on Goodreads and read it on June 19th, 2018.
