Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Totally one of my favorite books of the year. Like top 3. It was bad ass.

This book is about a boy who lives in America in the near future where the world has been ravaged by climate change and an almost complete lack of non-renewable resources. He is poor and lonely and has not much to look forward to in his home life but when he logs onto the virtual reality game that is now synonymous with practically all internet usage, OASIS, he has one thing to hope for: finding an Easter Egg left by the deceased creator of the game. Finding the egg grants the finder the wealth of this man and the control of his company, including the fate of OASIS.

This book was moving and funny and perfectly nerdy. It warmed my heart and made me tear up. Also it dealt with a surprising amount of real life issues on an individual scale all the way up to political and corporate issues in todays society. It was wonderful. I read the first 9 pages and knew it would be on my favorites shelf. It did not disappoint.

Book 48 of 50.
