A Dawn Most Wicked by Susan Dennard

I will be very sad when I have to stop my Susan Dennard kick due to having run out of her books. Her stories are so tight and fast and I love them. 

This short story (which Goodreads really should put at 1.5, similarly with Sightwitch needing to be 2.5) was great! Origin story for our gang of hero’s built sympathy with our romantic lead and gave a fun story to boot.

So pumped for book two. Ready to see Elenor again. 

Now posting this I realize I said basically nothing about it. I really enjoyed looking into the reasons the non-Elenor characters had for their opinions on her magic. It was wonderful to see the other characters so fleshed out. I also felt heartbreak for a situation I already knew the ending for at the beginning. Doing that takes talent. 

I gave this book 4 stars on Goodreads and read it on March 27th, 2018. It is July so I am clearly behind.
