Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard

Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard

This book was so much fun! Eleanor was such a lively narrator and I really enjoyed her story so far.

I am currently very into Susan Dennard as a person, she is so honest and open and I a very interested in getting to know her writing as well as her writing advice. I do think there were a few things in this book that might have been different if she had written it now, the frienemy situation might have been handled differently from what I know about her now, it low key bothered me but it was nowhere near as ā€œI am special and you, girl into girly stuff, are notā€ as some other stuff published at the time were. Though the Miss Fitts/misfit thing does play into that trope obviously. Though again I really liked Eleanor.

I love Daniel. And I love a love interest with ACTUAL FLAWS AND DIFFERENCES OF OPINION WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER.

I really should be writing an essay about 5th century BCE Athenian naval ships though. So bye Philidelphia at the turn of the century until then. After that its short story time.

I gave this book 5 stars on Goodreads and read it on March 26th, 2018. It is July so I am clearly behind.
