City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

SPOILERS FOR BASICALLY ALL OF TMI April 2018 reread: The sibling frustration is SO FUCKING REAL. Twice in like 15 pages, they were so close to being all jkjkjk Jace is a Herondale. And death and interrupting the villain monologing ruined it.
I had forgotten so much of what goes on in this book. I forgot basically everything about the Inquisitor (remembered she was related to Jace somehow but didnā€™t remember grandma until they said Stephen went to school with Luke), I forgot a bunch of the Malec plotline, I forgot basically all of Simons stuff except that her vamps and maybe drinks Jaceā€™s blood. And I knew he becomes a daylighter. Their breakup scene at the end was my favorite breakup ever, it was so mature and respectful and kinda sweet.
This time I only cried when Maryse said she wanted Jace to stay. But apparently, I cried in my first read of this.
I like that Clary cried when she is overwhelmed, it is very realistic. I do wish she would be a little more honest (as I do with basically everyone). God, I canā€™t wait until the end of City of Glass when there is a brief happy period (marred by death of course).

I gave this book 3 stars on Goodreads (I didnā€™t change it from my first read of the book, maybe I should have upped it to four). July 21st, 2018.
