Hollow City

By Ransom Riggs

Before my weird review that is barely a review two things. 1 I am now one book ahead of schedule for the year- super awesome because three days ago I was one behind- and 2 this book (and the paperback copy of it’s predecessor) like the physical book not the words on the page is with out a doubt one of the best quality books I have ever gotten read (or touched maybe). It is bound amazingly and the cover is so solid and the pages and ink are exquisite. As someone who accidentally makes books look as if they have been on a long and perilous journey it is astounding to me that both the hard back copy I just read and the paperback I have of the first one still look new! It is amazing.

Now the book itself! This was a fantastic squeal! I didn’t have to do any of the waiting that normally occurs so for the past three days I have not left the universe Ransom Riggs had created (except for food and class). The second book picks up right where the first leaves you and it is action packed from page one until the last.Ā

This book explored the history of peculiars and hollows/wrights (bad guys just in case you didn’t know) and the limits (or lack there of) of them! It was fascinating. The book had even more twists than the last, one of which left me very shocked, and continued to make me want to turn the page!Ā

It was a darker book than the last one (which you might think would be hard) but it still kept the humor and slight romance that made the first one awesome. This book solved some of the mysteries from the last but left many more to keep you wanting the next installment!Ā

If you haven’t read the first one you should and if you have you should read this one as soon as you can.Ā
